How do I create lists on OnePitch? Where can I upload my own contacts? Is there more that I can do to manage my lists? You might be asking yourself some of these questions which is what brought you here.

Good news is, this guide will help you learn how to build lists (create lists and save journalists) as well as manage them all from your OnePitch account.

Overview

List building on OnePitch can occur in one of four places: the Pitch Scores page, Search page, Similar Journalists page, or the Lists page.

Once you've created a list, you can manage it and all of the journalists you add to it from the Lists page.

Building Lists

There are three unique ways that you can build lists on OnePitch: submitting pitches, searching for journalists or articles, or searching for Similar Journalists. Each of these features was uniquely designed with a different approach to researching and building lists. Let's break down each one a bit further.

Submit pitch

  • Upload your pitch (or press release) to generate a list of 100 journalists recommendations. These recommendations are based around the contents of your pitch and the articles written by journalists who are recommended.

Search Journalists & Articles

  • Enter a keyword(s) to search through journalist's name, title, bio/description, outlet, and location
  • Enter a keyword(s) to browse through articles related to your client, company, or news

Similar Journalists

  • Type the name of a journalist to generate a list of 10 other journalist recommendations. These recommendations are based around the articles of the journalist being searched and the articles written by the journalists who are recommended.

Importing Lists

You can also import your own media lists directly into OnePitch! Whether you plan to build on them with new contacts or send & track your outreach to a pre-vetted list, it's a no-brainer to have as much information in one place as possible.

Download the template and import up to 500 journalists at a time onto a new or existing list. Or, if you prefer to do it manually, enter the information one by one and include as little or as much as you want. We'll help do the rest when it comes to finding and verifying contact information and building out the journalist's profiles.

Managing Lists

After you've uploaded or created your first list in OnePitch, and before you start your outreach, it's good practice to do a once over of all the journalists you've added. Equally so, it's important to revisit your lists from time to time as part of the relationship building process.

Some examples of different ways you can manage your lists on and off of OnePitch include:

  • Reviewing past articles (see profile page)
  • Reviewing past outreach (see activity timeline)
  • Following them on social (see profile page)
  • Reviewing recent social posts
  • Noting any updates or points of interest (see activity timeline)
