As a marketer in this day and age, it is essential that you have a variety of skills. Take Mike for example! He has experience in numerous different fields, including web development and design, graphic design, marketing, and content creation. Beginning his journey in his home state of Pennslyvania, he began his career in graphic design before transitioning into marketing. Somewhere along the road Mike formed a love for technology and tech topics, and knew that he wanted to get into tech marketing. Now he holds the Chief Marketing Officer position at OnePitch.
Read more about where he attended college, his previous work experience and the one career moment he is most proud of below.
Where did you go to college and what did you major in?
I studied marketing, communication and computer science at Juniata College, a small liberal arts college in central PA.
What did you do before OnePitch?
Many things! More recently I worked at a web design firm after moving to San Diego.
What made you choose to be in this field?
I always knew I would work in marketing. I was a HUGE fan of commercials while growing up, I loved to dissect them and learn more about the brands who did exceptional work.
What are some past career moments you are most proud of?
I’m most proud of any work that brings people together to create new ways of conveying a message to mass audiences. While working at a PR agency in Philadelphia I helped initiate a now longstanding annual gathering called Social Media Day. The first year we put it on we had a huge turnout and I met a few peers in the social space I still brainstorm ideas with now.
Did you expect to take the career path that you did?
100%. I’m big on planning so every step I take in my career I try to either plan ahead with meaning or find a way to grow from the situations I’m in.
Stay tuned for Mike’s interview next week about his predictions on the future of PR and marketing and where he thinks that intersection is going to lie. In the meantime, check out how our Co-Founder, Beck Bamberger, is impacting the democratization between publicists and journalists here.
